About Angie

First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting my beloved website – Angie’s Realm! I have been maintaining this site for quite a while now. I’ve recently updated it for a new and fresh feel for 2017. I also got rid of a lot of the old content that was weighing it down. Now I’m ready for a fresh new start with all kinds of novel recipes, fun crafts, and who knows what else!

You’ll find that my site is mostly focused on food. This is not only because I consider myself to be a major foodie, but because I have worked as a chef in restaurants on and off for most of my adult life. While I can’t say enough about all of the great experiences that I have had in commercial and small restaurant kitchens, when my third child was born, I knew it was time to focus more on my family and less of my job. I decided to retire a little early (to my husbands and children’s delight.)

Angie BishopThere were a lot of great aspects to being a career chef. I learned so much about food and even more about people and the way that businesses work. Along with all of the nice parts about being in the restaurant business,
there were some things that I didn’t care for quite so much. One of those aspects was working on the weekends. I found that┬ámy schedule as a chef made it difficult for me to make it to my son’s soccer games and even my daughters dance recitals. My husband was recently promoted to a project manager position at the marketing firm that he works for, this increase in income made it possible to transition into an early retirement. I’m sure that I will go back to work as a chef someday, but for the time being I’m happy looking after my family that just got a little bit bigger with the most recent addition of our new baby.

I have spent most of my adult life in Virginia where I have worked in many different types of restaurants throughout the years. I’ve worked with traditional American cuisine, southern themed restaurants, Mediterranean, and most recently an Asian-inspired sushi restaurant. I didn’t do much of the actual sushi part myself, but I have always been fascinated by the skill and attention to detail that the sushi chefs possessed. They did teach me quite a few different pointers on how to impress my family with great rolls at home.

A new area of focus that I want to have for my blog is maintaining a healthy diet for myself and my family included. I’m a firm believer in the fact that food will act as either a medicine or a poison for your body. The diet choices that you make determine which of those you will be ingesting.

Of course there is more to life than delicious foods and interesting recipes. I love love love doing all types of different crafts. I’m trying to integrate more of those into the blog as well. My visitors in the past have said how they would like to see more crafts. Pinterest is a great source for these craft ideas. Being a new mom of 3, it’s hard to find a lot of free time. But, when I do, I will try to tackle one of my Pinterest crafts off of my list. This list keeps growing larger and larger by the week so I don’t think that I will ever have time to do them all!

This blog has been a great creative outlet for me in the past. It’s more than just posting things about my life, I really enjoy hearing any feedback from readers as well.
